Episode 125: Leading a Study
Variables to Consider

Bible studies can be so different from each other! If you are leading a study or want to start up a study, whether that's with a friend, group of friends, as an evangelistic outreach, or any other type of get-together, you may want to think through some of the reasons why these studies are so different. In this episode, we look at the audience, your style, and the environment and how each of these SHOULD have an impact on the way that you lead the Bible study.

Things to Consider

Before anyone decides how to teach something, it is best to make sure you are solid on the understanding of your curriculum and assessment. Other things to consider besides what is mentioned above are your audience, style, and environment. Of course, the audience age will determine how the students are allowed to study the information. The size of the audience, the leader’s personal style, and the environment will cause changes in how the procedures are run. Keep all of these in mind as the study progresses. If the study follows that same basic format detailed below, these variables have a much smaller impact on the study, but should still be considered.

There are multiple formats of the following style that have been tried several times with success in the areas of high participation, enjoyment, and retention of the curriculum. These are to help guide leaders as they create their own studies throughout the Scriptures. There are examples of each, along with principles to consider when creating similar resources. Simply use these as a guide and not as something that works for every passage or topic. The Bible is extremely diverse and the study needs to meet it in that respect.
